Celebrate the closing of Who Tells Our Stories? at Coda with delicious food, live drumming, art and a chance to meet the artists. Who Tells Our Stories? – Exhibition Closing Celebration Join us at Coda as we bring Who Tells Our Stories? to a close with a celebration of the artists, their work and the stories that have shaped this exhibition. Throughout October, the Coda Gallery has been home to an exciting collection of work by Global Majority artists exploring identity, heritage, memory, migration, home and belonging. Our closing celebration is an opportunity to come together with food, drumming and refreshments to meet some of the participating artists, reflect on the exhibition and enjoy the work one last time. Whether you've already visited or are discovering the exhibition for the first time, we'd love you to join us. About the exhibition Who Tells Our Stories? brings together Global Majority artists working across photography, sculpture, textiles, puppetry, fine art, installation and written work. Their work began with two questions: The Map of Me – What places, people, histories, cultures and experiences have shaped who we are? Who Tells Our Stories? – Who gets to decide how our lives, identities and communities are represented, and what happens when we tell those stories for ourselves? The answers are intimate, varied and sometimes unexpected. Moving through family histories and inherited memories, migration and place, motherhood, culture, home and belonging, the exhibition celebrates the richness and complexity of individual lives and experiences. The exhibition forms part of The Nightjar Project by African Activities CIC, inspired by the nightjar's annual migration between West Africa and the New Forest. About African Activities African Activities CIC is a Black-led arts and cultural organisation creating exceptional African arts experiences across the UK, working in schools, communities, workplaces and festivals, alongside original artistic projects. About The Nightjar Project The Nightjar Project is a place-based creative programme rooted in the New Forest, exploring belonging, migration and connections to land through art, storytelling and shared cultural experiences. Developed in partnership with the New Forest National Park Authority and local organisations, it brings artists and communities together to explore the stories that connect us to places and to one another. Access and parking The Coda Gallery is fully accessible. Parking is available on site, but spaces are limited, so we encourage visitors to car share where possible. If you have any specific access requirements or questions about attending, please contact Adeola at [email protected], and we'll be happy to help.
