BTNVGMJAM @ Pink Moon - Jam and Workshop

An inclusive workshop and jam with house band B-Side Quest, welcoming players of all levels with guidance and support for participation. BTNVGMJAM is the UK's first Video Game Music jam session (c. 2025), offering an inclusive space for musicians and audiences who love video games, their soundtracks or just an inclusive, alternative and participatory live music environment. At our Pink Moon "Workshop" session, you can expect a slower pace than our typical jams. Typically, we aim to put on a show on for the audience. Our focus at the workshop however, is welcoming musicians of all levels to participate in more considered and creative arrangements - taking time to experiment and practice. Our jams always sit somewhere between a jazz and folk jam, with lead sheets provided by vgleadsheets.com and musicians being invited to take turns soloing over the forms. However, like a folk jam, we welcome any and all lead players to join in with any melodies they know. Much like our cousins in the USA and Japan, we love songs from video games. There's a unique nostalgia and energy it brings to those who grew up with this music. It's also a very diverse, dynamic and modern approach to learning and appreciating Jazz and Folk music styles - regardless of how connected / distant you feel with these scenes. We're at the beginning of what we see as a global shift toward music from video games, becoming a signifcant part of the pedagogy of Jazz and Popular music - just as broadway and film music has in previous generations. Our jams are built on 3 pillars; great songs, passionate musicians, positive energy. We're proud to be at the beginning of the UK VGM scene, building a strong community- and we'd love for you to come be a part of it too.
