Explore how artists have captured the distinctive mood and character of autumn, from rich colours and changing light to the sense of stillness and atmosphere that accompanies the season. The reserve provides a wealth of inspiration, with golden foliage, fallen leaves, textured grasses and shifting skies creating ever-changing scenes. Weather permitting, we’ll spend time outdoors, observing the landscape closely and gathering sketches and notes from the natural surroundings. Through careful study, we’ll explore ways of expressing the colours, forms and atmospheric qualities that make autumn such a compelling subject for landscape painting and drawing.
