DWW Festival Day 2 - Long Linear: Upper Framilode to Dursley

Long Linear: Upper Framilode to Dursley Day: Thursday 8th October Time: 09:30 – 16:00 Start Location: Dursley Bus Station, GL11 4JH What3words: ///overused.kipper.limelight Distance: 12 miles (19.3 km) Grade: Hard Walk Leader: Richard Harris, Dursley Rambling Club Description: We start this walk with a coach ride from Dursley Bus Station to Upper Framilode. ‘Walk through the beautiful Cotswold countryside and pass canal old and new, watch the peaceful water traffic, visit the recent technically difficult canal restoration works and be reminded of industry of old.’ We will walk along the River Frome exploring sections of the canal, passing through Saul Junction and onto Eastington before pausing at the Community Orchard for lunch. Here there will be an option to visit the nearby Westfield Bridge and Lock. We will continue the walk past the old mill buildings and out into the open countryside to explore little known paths back to Dursley. Whilst the walk is lengthy, the going is good with only a climb towards the end. There are the usual stiles and stream bridges to navigate. We ask that you pay toward the cost of the coaches but this does not fully cover the cost, and the Festival relies on kind donations to ensure its future.
