About this event

Sheikh Babikir and his companions host a gathering of sacred remembrance, recitation, and devotion.

Full description from organizer

Join Sheikh Babikir and his companions for a gathering of sacred remembrance, recitation, and devotion. All are warmly welcome. Rooted in the Sufi tradition, the gathering invites us into a shared space of stillness, beauty, and spiritual presence, where voices come together in remembrance and hearts are drawn closer through the sacred. In the spirit of Fostering Friendship through Beauty, this dhikr offers a moment to pause, listen, and experience the beauty of remembrance in community. All are warmly welcome! This is a friendly introduction to dhikr - handouts will be provided and Sheikh Babikir will explain the significance of words and phrases. Please note that doors will close shortly before the advertised time, so we request that you arrive 15 minutes before the start time. Open for all, regardless of faith. About Sheikh Babikir Sheikh Babikir Ahmed Babikir is a Sudanese-born Islamic scholar, educator, and spiritual teacher who has lived in Britain since 1977. He studied Islamic sciences in Sudan under Sheikh Al-Fatih Qaribullah, alongside studies in mathematics, education, and management. With decades of experience as a teacher, head teacher, and spiritual director, Sheikh Babikir has dedicated his life to sharing Islam’s spiritual tradition through education, community building, and interfaith dialogue. He is the founder of Ulfa Aid and Rumi’s Cave and continues to teach and lead gatherings of dhikr in the UK and internationally. About The Cambridge Festival of Islamic Arts The Cambridge Festival of Islamic Arts runs from 19 to 29 November 2026, bringing performances, exhibitions, lectures, and workshops to Cambridge's historic colleges, museums, and cultural spaces. Open to everyone, the festival celebrates the beauty and diversity of Islamic arts, and, fifty years on from the landmark 1976 World of Islam Festival, carries that spirit into our own time.
