Cambridge Winter Folklore Fayre – folklore, divination, artisan makers, local history, seasonal traditions and community. Step into a different kind of Fayre this November. The Cambridge Winter Folklore Fayre is a new Community Folklore & Wellbeing Gathering coming to Fulbourn, bringing together folklore, unusual history, artisan makers, traditional divination, seasonal traditions and wellbeing for a day of discovery, curiosity and connection. This is more than simply a market or psychic fair. The Winter Folklore Fayre has been intentionally created as an experience — somewhere to wander, discover, listen, learn and connect. Alongside a carefully curated collection of traders, readers, authors, makers and wellbeing spaces, there will be a programme of talks, demonstrations and experiences throughout the day. FEATURED TALKS & DEMONSTRATIONS THE CAMBRIDGE HISTORIAN The Cambridge Historian will be presenting a talk exploring the alternative, unusual and often overlooked sides of local history. Expect some of the stories that don't always make it into the history books, drawing on Cambridge and Cambridgeshire's folklore, beliefs, people and past, followed by an opportunity for questions and discussion. PETE JENNINGS – GRUFF BOOKS Anglo-Saxon Elves Author and former President of The Pagan Federation, Pete Jennings joins us for a special 45-minute talk on Anglo-Saxon Elves, drawing on the research behind his Aelphame Trilogy. Pete will also be joining the Fayre with Gruff Books and offering rune readings during the day. THE ENGLISH GODDESS PROJECT Senuna: Goddess at the Source of the River Cam Suzie, founder of the English Goddess Project, will explain how she came to discover Senuna, a little-known Romano-British goddess whose remarkable collection of votive offerings was discovered near the source of the River Cam. She will explore what is actually known about Senuna from the archaeological evidence, before describing how she set out to discover who this almost-forgotten goddess might be today. Suzie will share some of the techniques she has used in her research, combining historical and archaeological investigation with fieldwork, observation of the landscape and personal spiritual practice. She will also describe her experiences and reactions while visiting springs, waterways and other significant locations along the River Cam, and how these encounters have gradually shaped her understanding of Senuna. This is the story not simply of researching an ancient goddess, but of attempting to encounter her again within the living landscape. PALM & BOWL – LIGHT LANGUAGE Natalie Jane Lal of Palm & Bowl will be joining us for a talk and live demonstration exploring Light Language. Natalie has worked with Light Language for six years, with her practice drawing on frequency and vibration alongside archetypes, symbolism, ancient stories, pantheons and languages. Further details about Natalie's talk will be announced shortly. WHAT YOU'LL FIND AT THE FAYRE Visitors can expect a carefully curated mix of: • Folklore-inspired artisan traders • Seasonal and nature-led crafts • Traditional divination arts, including rune readings • Readers and mediums • Handmade gifts, books, artwork and curiosities • Local folklore and unusual history • Wellbeing and holistic spaces • Talks and demonstrations throughout the day • Folklore-inspired experiences • Community connection and seasonal atmosphere At its heart, The Winter Folklore Fayre is about bringing folklore, storytelling, seasonal traditions and local history back into a living community setting — alongside some wonderfully unusual people, practices and things to discover.
