Come face to face with the past at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology’s collections store Explore the Centre for Material Culture, a decommissioned nuclear bunker teaming with local history, and get a peek behind-the-scenes at Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology's collections store. Then discover the ways ancient people created meaning through their daily activities and belongings as you handle pieces of local archaeology. Schedule 14:00: Arrive 14:00-14:45: Tour of the store 14:45-15:30: Objects in focus handling session Access • If you have any access requirements, please let us know via email prior to the event. You can contact us by emailing [email protected]. • The ground floor of the building is step-free, however there is no step-free access to the first floor. Please get in touch if you require step-free access. • This event involves standing and walking for around 45 minutes during the tour. Chairs can be made available during the tour and handling session. • A gender-neutral, accessible toilet is available on the ground floor. • The building and tour route are well lit. Sound levels are typically low, but there is a low hum from the server in our workroom, and there may be periodic loud sounds and alarms. • There is a portable hearing loop available in the workroom. • Guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs are welcome.
