Royston Repair Cafe 45

Don't throw away your broken household items - bring them along for a free assessment and, if possible, a free fix If you have an item that needs mending - a bike, clothes, jewellery, a toy, tool, electrical and IT equipment including printers, small pieces of furniture etc - what do you do with it? Take it to the tip? Of course not - you bring them along to the Royston Repair Cafe - a free event where you can learn a little about your broken item while a volunteer repairer assesses it and, where possible, does a fix. To be fair to everyone we can only look at one item per person. Please note: we have an average of 30 minutes to trouble-shoot and to try to mend each item - we are not the same as The Repair Shop on TV! It's simple - bring an item that you think still has life in it. The item will be assessed and, if it can be mended there and then, you can watch how it's done. Note: this is a clinic not a hospital - if it needs more attention, if possible we'll refer you to a local repair business - we are not a replacement for the experts. We would recommend you take family heirlooms and other precious items to professional repairers! It's free but we ask you to book a place in advance and to tell us a little about what you'll be bringing. This is to make sure we have a repairer available to assess your item and to save time when you arrive. Once you’ve booked in your broken item, we’ll send you a time slot for your arrival – to try to minimise waiting times and help social distancing.
