Join local bestselling children's author, illustrator and artist Kate Willis-Crowley (also known as Inky Willis) for a wonderfully eerie creative workshop inspired by the mysterious creatures and fantastical beasts of folklore and legend. Drawing inspiration from Kate's own striking, folklore-inspired illustrations, children will explore the stories behind some curious and otherworldly characters before letting their imaginations run wild! What strange creatures might be hiding in the woods? What mysterious powers do they possess? And what tales might they have to tell? Children will dream up their very own strange creature, bringing it to life through illustration before exploring poetry to give their creation a story, a voice or perhaps even a dark little secret... Perfect for imaginative young artists, budding poets and lovers of all things mysterious and macabre! Suitable for children aged 8–11. Join us at Happy Reading Children's Bookshop in Broadstairs for a Halloween celebration of folklore, illustration, poetry and imagination! Important Information: • Suitable for children aged 8 - 11 • Event duration: approx. 60minutes • Ticket price: £5 per child • Booking is essential — spaces are limited! • The bookshop is on the first floor, accessed via a flight of stairs. • Children will sit for the reading, then move to a play/craft table for activities. All materials are provided and age-appropriate. • Adults may stay for the event (limited seating available) or relax with a coffee and pastry downstairs in STAPLE. • If you can’t attend, please let us know so we can offer your space to another family. • Photos may be taken for social media (backs of heads only).
