The Shifting Landscape The UK’s gas needs are changing. The role of natural gas should decline and shift to flexible power consumption. Meanwhile, the role of CO2 and hydrogen is on the rise, although starting from a cluster basis. This transformation presents both challenges and opportunities. There is a need to balance existing capacity with the longer-term vision. DNV's Spadeadam facility will provide a unique vantage point for this discussion. The site has been instrumental in testing procedures for gas infrastructure. Now it's adapting to test new gas types and blends as the energy system evolves. The E-FWD panel on location at Spadeadam will seek answers on how industry should face this uncertainty. What do companies need to know now about how supply and demand will shift in the future? What are the engineering challenges of change? How do commercial and regulatory approaches need to adapt?
