Bright Nights & SOUP Gloucester

Join us to celebrate the switch-on of a new light installation at Gloucester Park Bandstand, alongside SOUP Gloucester ideas. Warm up, tuck in and help choose a new idea for Gloucester Park! Join us for an evening of light, community and creativity as we celebrate a new light installation at Gloucester Park Bandstand and host SOUP Gloucester, a community event where local people decide which ideas receive funding. We'll hear four ideas for making Gloucester Park a more welcoming place, particularly for women. Come along to meet people, enjoy a bowl of free soup, hear the ideas and vote for the one you'd most like to see happen. The idea with the most votes will receive funding from our £1,000 community fund to be brought to life in Gloucester Park in 2027. This is an outdoor event in November, so wrap up warm! We'll have firepits to help keep everyone warm. Celebrating Bright Nights Artists Helena Doyle and Jonathan Katona, based at JOLT, have been commissioned by Gloucester City Council's Bright Nights programme to create a new light installation for Gloucester Park Bandstand. Designed to make the bandstand a more welcoming place during the winter months, the installation will bring new light to the park. Join us to celebrate its switch-on and see the artwork illuminated for the first time. What is SOUP Gloucester? SOUP Gloucester brings people together to share ideas, make connections and decide how local funding should be spent. For this event, four selected applicants will each have four minutes to present their idea for making Gloucester Park more welcoming, particularly for women. Once you've heard all four pitches, you'll get to vote for the idea you'd most like to support. The idea receiving the most votes will be awarded the £1,000 funding pot to help make it happen in 2027. It's a chance to hear what's happening locally, have your say and play a part in shaping the future of Gloucester Park. Everyone is welcome – come along, grab a bowl of soup and have your say! Location and travel: Location: Gloucester Park Bandstand Gloucester Park, Trier Way, Gloucester, GL1 1LY. The event will take place at the bandstand inside Gloucester Park. The park has several entrances, including from Trier Way and Park Road. By car Free event parking will be available at GO Outdoors, 98–108 Barton Street, Gloucester, GL1 4DZ. By train You can also travel by train to Gloucester Station, which is approximately a 15-minute walk from the park.
