About this event
Wildlife Rangers conservation coppicing session at the Rotherlands Nature Reserve. Join us on October 1st at 10:00am for a volunteer session coppicing in the woodlands at the Rotherlands Nature Reserve. All tools will be provided, so just bring yourself ready to get stuck in!

Coppicing is an ancient woodland management technique that involves trimming a tree or bush (in this case alder and hazel) so that more light can penetrate the woodland floor. This also gives the tree a new lease of life, encouraging new young growth. At the Rotherlands this activity is particularly important for increasing biodiversity and creating more suitable habitat for creatures like dormice. Please remember to wear sturdy shoes and long trousers to stay safe and comfortable while working. We'll be meeting at Petersfield Rugby Football Club, free car parking available.
