Full description from organizer

A concert by Rob Halligan to raise funds for The Friendship Project for Children for their 40th Anniversary. The Friendship Project for Children (the friendship project for children – the friendship project for children) is a Warwickshire-wide charity that matches children and young people aged 6-16, who are in need for a variety of reasons, with volunteers for friendship and fun. The child may be caring for a sick parent or be limited to where they can go on holiday because of a disabled sibling or other family member. For some children, even playing in the park or going to the cinema are a rare treat. Having some time out from often difficult home situations really does improve the child’s self-esteem and self-worth. Our volunteers report that they too enjoy spending time with thw young person that they are matched with knowing that they are really making a difference to a child’s life. Rob Halligan (- Rob Halligan) is a professional musician and is an award winning singer/songwriter. He has toured across the world, gaining a reputation as a passionate and engaging performer. As well as live sessions on BBC Radio 2 and numerous television and radio appearances, Rob has performed at some of the UK’s iconic venues and festivals. He’s as at home on stage at the Manchester Apollo or main stage at the Godiva Festival as he is at a local church café or folk club. He has toured extensively across the UK as well as shows in Canada, USA, Brazil, Hong Kong and Europe. His songs draw from his own experiences, living on the streets, losing his father in the terrorist attacks of 9-11 and of the people he’s met on his journey. Across 14 Studio albums, Halligan has explored the desire to find hope in a messed up world and his down to earth faith and story-telling connect with audiences everywhere. The BBC’s Paul Gambaccini commented “These are some of the strongest songs I have heard”. Since 2008 Rob has worked with ‘Wet Wet Wet’ Guitarist, Graeme Duffin and producer Sandi Jones, gaining great reviews and radio air-play. With a conviction to use his music to make a difference, Rob has supported children’s charity, ”Global Care”, visiting Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Lebanon and Brazil raising awareness and money for some of the world’s most disadvantaged children. Rob is based in Coventry, UK. He tours both as a solo artist and with his band Homeward Hie
