Fungi Foray

Come and spend the day learning about fungi identification and exploring the specimens at Pleasley Pit Trust's site with a field walk. Come along for a day of fungi exploration, hosted by Beverely Rhodes, Derbyshire fungi recorder at Pleasley Pit Trust's nature reserve. The morning will be spent in the Ken Lomas room at Pleasley Pit visitor centre learning about how to identify fungi,. After a lunch break we will head out for a field walk to spend some time looking for fungi and using the skills and knowledge from the first part of the day. Then to round off we will head back indoors to discuss our findings and conclude the day. Itinery: 10:00 - Welcome 10:05-12:00 - Recognising and Identifying Fungi 12:00-13:00 - Lunch Break - whilst food is not provided, an on site cafe provides delicious options at very reasonable prices. 13:00-15:00 - Field Walk 15:00-16:00 - Summary Discussion Please Note: Appropriate outdoor clothing will be required for the field walk including warm layers, waterproofs and suitable footwear. This session is for identification of fungi and is not a foraging session, no edible specimens will be collected. Parking is available at Pleasley Pit Trust, free of charge. Please meet at the visitor centre for a 10am start.
