Baby Loss Awareness Week - Wave of Light Walk 2026 - Edinburgh

To mark the Global Wave of Light, Held In Our Hearts’ Wave of Light Walk will return, Thursday 15th October, 18:00-20:30. What is the Wave of Light Walk? 🕯️ The candle lit walk will see families and community members come together to honour all our babies and the families who grieve for them. 💖 This is a family friendly event, with everyone welcome to join us. 🌟If you would like to light yourselves up with fairy lights and flashing headbands, and/or wear Held In Our Hearts Pink and Blue colours for the walk, we will all shine bright together! 🍴Food and refreshments will be available from 17.30, before we begin our walk. This event is free for all participants, however, if you would like to support the work we do, in providing free specialist bereavement counselling and support to families across Scotland, you can chose to make a donation to Held In Our Hearts when registering for the event. Route and Walk Details: • The Wave of Light Walk begins from Holyrood Park’s Broad Pavement Car Park (see What3Words : ///dinner.zealous.august). • Walk begins at 18.30, please arrive between 17.30-18.00. • We will walk up Queen’s Drive, past St Margaret’s Loch, turning up the hill, and come to a congregation at Dunsapie Loch (approx. 2km from the start). • Here, we will light our candles in memory of all our little ones and join the Global Wave of Light at 19.00. • Due to road closures, we will return to the start by the same route we came up (2km back to start). Note on Accessibility and Health and Safety: • The walk is 2km up and 2km back (direct route). • Route is up a hill, if you are bringing small children it is advised that you have a buggy or a suitable carrier for them. • The route is all paved and therefore suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, however, we will be walking in the dark and so care must be taken by all attendees. • The walk is undertaken at each individuals own risk.
