Introduction to Woodworking: Make your own Creepie Stool

Course Dates: This course will be run over two evening sessions on Tuesday 15th September & Tuesday 29th September 6.00pm - 8.30pm. Please make sure that you can attend both sessions before purchasing. Overview: Join us for an introduction to woodworking and build your own Creepie Stool! This course also includes a Safety Induction, allowing you future access to book a bench in our community workshop sessions! This hands-on course introduces the essential principles of woodworking. Over the two sessions we will go through all the necessities; including workshop health and safety and practical experience of using common woodworking machinery, all within a supervised workshop environment. By the end of the course, participants will have developed the skills to: - Create and interpret a cutting list - Measure and mark out materials accurately - Cut timber safely and precisely - Sand and prepare components for assembly - Assemble a simple woodworking project using appropriate techniques Course Schedule: Session 1 Workshop health and safety Measuring and marking out Cutting components Session 2 Sanding techniques Assembly of the Creepie stool Final checks and project completion Prerequisite: None Materials: All included! What we expect from you: • We expect all members, volunteers and staff to follow and uphold our shared Code of Conduct. • Follow instructions to use machines safely - this includes always having the face-shield down or wearing safety goggles when using the machine, tying long hair back, not wearing loose clothing or jewellery, and ensuring you wear closed toe, non slip shoes. • Have fun, be kind, and stay safe! Useful to know: The space in our Leith workshop can get quite cold regardless of the season, please do make sure you wrap up warm to stay comfortable!
