Volunteer Day - St Thomas Community Garden

If you've walked past St Thomas Community Garden and wondered what it's all about - this is your chance to find out! Join us at St Thomas Community Garden for a special volunteer day on Monday 21st September. We will be doing a mixture of planting, resurfacing the paths, replacing fencing, de-seeding plants and harvesting. No experience is required. We have split the day into a morning and afternoon session, so people can choose to join for a couple of hours or the whole day. Schedule 10am-12pm - Morning gardening session 12-1pm - Lunch 1-3pm - Afternoon gardening session Do you have volunteer days as part of your business/organisation? This is a great opportunity to use them to support a local community initiative. Over 18s only. Accessibility • Wheelchair access - due to the un-even paths inside the garden fencing, most of the garden isn't currently wheelchair accessible (though we would like to change this). However, the outside planters are accessible via the concrete path and there will be a seating area where people can do various tasks. • Dogs - Only guide dogs. • Toilets - There are public toilets in the park. • Water - Please bring at least one bottle of water, we will bring a water dispenser for you to refill. • Food - Please bring your own packed lunch, we will bring biscuits and hopefully some apples from our apple trees. • What to bring: Clothes suitable for gardening, sturdy shoes, water bottle, hat, suncream, raincoat, lunch, gardening gloves (if you have them). Our aim is to grow food in a sustainable way whilst respecting and enhancing local wildlife; to increase access to locally produced food for all in the neighbourhood; and to strengthen the sense of community. The garden is run by volunteers and organised as a community group. Our volunteers meet every week to tend to the garden, harvest, and share produce. We meet on Sundays at 11 am. Everyone is welcome, no experience required.
