Join Tony Stephenson for a walk around Dunston's riverside exploring the history of industry. Duston Staiths is one of Europe's largest timber structures. Why is it here? Join local guide, Tony Stephenson on a walk around the local area to discover its industrial heritage and imagine the hustle of Tyneside's industrial past as you look out at Dunston Staiths. The walk will end back at the Staiths Space, on Staithes Road where you can play our brand new industrial heritage boardgame, 'Bottles, Coal and Iron', and find out about how it was made. You can park in the newly rennovated car park on Staithes Road for a small fee - all profits from the car park go back into caring for Dunston Staiths. Please note that Dunston Staiths are closed for the season so this walk will not include access to Dunston Staiths themselves. Please wear sensible footwear and be prepared to be on your feet/ walking/ wheeling for up to 90 minutes. Photos by Damien Wooten. Tier 3 , Paying £12 per event • I am comfortably able to meet all of my basic needs*. *BASIC NEEDS include food, housing, clothing and transport.
