Join our 4-week Introduction to Sewing Workshop, specifically designed for parent-and-child pairs! Whether you’re complete beginners or looking to refresh your basic skills, this step-by-step course guides you through machine mechanics, straight-line stitching, and basic garment construction. By the end of the 4 weeks, you’ll both leave with a custom tote bag and a finished piece of handmade clothing! To ensure maximum individual attention and high-touch guidance, class size is strictly limited to 3 parent-child pairs. Course Outline • Week 1 (24th Oct): Sewing Machine Basics & Safety. Get comfortable with the equipment! Learn machine safety, threading, bobbin winding, speed control, and how to practice basic stitches. For the parent, this will include a zip pouch and a scrunchie for the child.d • Week 2 (31st Oct): Custom Tote Bag Project. Put your new skills to work by measuring, cutting, and stitching a durable, personalized tote bag to take home. • Weeks 3 & 4 (7th & 14th Nov): Garment Construction. Learn simple clothing construction techniques to create a wearable item: choose between a custom pair of elastic-waist shorts or an A-line skirt. What’s Included • 4 weekly two-hour structured sessions. • All tools, thread, equipment usage, and tote bag fabric/materials. • Pre-cut garment patterns to take home. What to Bring • Garment Fabric: Details and fabric requirements for your Week 3–4 clothing project (shorts/skirt) will be sent out after registration (approx. 2 by 1.5 meters of non-stretch cotton fabric). • (Optional) You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you prefer to learn on your home setup, though machines are provided on-site. Please ensure it is in good working condition; we are limited by group and time constraints. will not have to go through any issues. Frequently Asked Questions Do I need any prior sewing experience? Not at all! This course is designed specifically for complete beginners. Does one ticket cover both of us? Yes, 1 ticket (£110) grants entry for 1 parent + 1 child for all 4 weeks of the course.
