EMMA PLANT: Backyard Bees: Private Green Spaces and Pollinator Diversity in Cities Gardens and allotments, and how they are managed, have an important role in supporting pollinator diversity within cities. This talk will cover research by Emma Plant, who explores factors that shape pollinator communities in these green spaces, including the influence of both native and non-native plants. The presentation will also examine whether gardens and allotments differ in the resources they provide for pollinators and identify pollinator plant preferences. The importance of private green spaces for sustaining pollinators in urban environments will be highlighted, alongside practical management advice for making your green space more biodiversity-friendly. understory glasgow is a social event for people who love plants in Glasgow and the west of Scotland. Inspired by the successful events of our friends - Talking Plants Sheffield - we are bringing you a series of talks, tours, workshops and plant idents. We are looking forward to our third event on Thursday 17th September at ISO Design Studio*, where Emma Plant will be presenting her research: Backyard Bees: Private Green Spaces and Pollinator Diversity in Cities We will also have an AUTUMN PLANT IDENT - where the winner will get a lovely wee prize. Drinks and refreshments available on the night. Tickets are £5. Doors open at 6.30 for a 7pm start. * Accessibility - Unfortunately the venue is not fully accessible due to stairs. However, we are searching for accessible venues in the city and welcome discussions with venues who might have a suitable space.
