Samhain Masquerade Ball

Féilire x Wyrd Collective presents: Samhain Masquerade Ball Féilire and Wyrd Collective are delighted to celebrate Samhain and our one-year birthday at Sharkeys Bar on Friday 30th October. We are throwing a masquerade ball to bring in the Celtic New Year, coming together at one of the year’s most liminal times, when the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest. Guise in your masks ward away the spirits! Reflect on the last year, set intentions, look into the underbelly, and reflect on the light we will carry into the darkest half of the year. On the night: there will be installations and traditional Samhain games, with Wyrd Words bringing you spooky stories to start off the night. We’re excited to have three amazing live musical acts joining us: Cashlin MacKenzie, Medb and Culchie Goth. Closing out the night will be a Féilire x Wyrd DJ set for a whimsy dance into the wee hours. The Live Acts: Cashlin Mackenzie is a Gaelic-speaking artist and experimental musician based in Scotland. Her audio practice brings together live instrumentation, electronic composition and field recordings to explore relationships between rhythm, cycles, memory and ecology, often building these materials into layered, evolving soundscapes. Medb was boirn in Canada under the sign of Taurus, and raised by two singer-songwriters in post-conflict Northern Ireland. With a personality that is part Edie Sedgwick, part Virgin Mary, part Kylie Jenner, and a distinctive sound that has been likened to The Shop Assistants, Le Tigre, and Alvvays, you’ll know you’re listening to medb when an indescribable pang of nostalgia takes over your soul. Culchie Goth hails from the bogs of County Offaly, and is bringing live traditional fiddle-playing to dance floors across Ireland and the UK. Shake ass or step dance? You’ll want to do both with their whirlwind of BPMs accompanying carefully curated jigs, reels, polkas and more.
