The Black presence in Georgian theatre and music

Baroque music by Black composers and on non-European themes Bloomsbury Baroque contributes music by Ignatius Sancho and Joseph Bologne to Black History Month, along with incidental suites by Paisible [Oroonoko] and Henry Purcell [The Indian Queen] and songs by Purcell/Courteville [Oroonoko]. The first two composers were Black men of letters as well as composers; the other three were composers writing for works set beyond Europe.
