YCAT presents... Nathan Amaral (violin)

Brazilian violinist Nathan Amaral joins us as part of our continuing partnership with the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT). Born Brazilian violinist Nathan Amaral joins us as part of our continuing partnership with the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT). Born in Rio de Janeiro, Nathan began playing the violin at the age of twelve through a social project in the favela of Mangueira, where he was the only student in a class of 200 to pursue music professionally. His own experience of music as a means of opportunity and connection continues to shape his work, including the festival he founded in 2021 to support young musicians from difficult backgrounds in Brazil. His Royal Holloway programme brings this personal connection to Brazilian music into focus, with works by Paulo Bosísio and Flausino Vale alongside other music from the country's rich musical traditions. This event is presented as part of the International Concert Series 2026-27 - The Sounding World - at Royal Holloway, in collaboration with the Young Classical Artists Trust. Nathan has earned a reputation for being "...one of the rare musicians who not only possesses the gift of ample technical ability but uses it to transcend technique, getting to the heart and soul of musical expression….” — Yo-Yo Ma.
