Autumn Term 2026 - Digital Animation Short Course

This 5 week course is designed to cover the principals of animation, and introduce you to creative ways to make moving image. Overview Over the weeks we'll explore bringing the intangible to life through a combination of practical workshops in tandem with theory and experimentation. Exploring foundational principles that underpin great animation whilst picking up new skills along the way. From frame-by-frame morphing to stop motion and figurative abstraction. We'll investigate how movement can transform ideas into stimulating visuals. Along the way, we'll composite and refine our work using industry-standard tools such as Adobe After Effects Animate and Premiere Pro. Looking to bring an animated flair to their existing work or simply try something completely new. Expand your toolkit and discover new ways of thinking through moving image. We'll cover: ● The principles of animation and visual storytelling ● Frame-by-frame animation techniques ● Stop motion and under-camera process ● Experimental and mixed media analogue animation ● Motion graphics and compositing in After Effects ● Sound, rhythm, and timing. ● Developing a personal visual language. ● Creating short animated projects from concept to completion Please visit Hereford College of Arts | Courses for more information.
