Wayfinders: Fungi - The Grange Project, Monmouthshire

• Understanding of some fungal ecology and biology, and their importance in ecosystems worldwide • Get outside for a fungal foray and put new ID Skills to use • Learning to look for “evidence” of fungi even when no fruit bodies are around • Intro to microscopy and looking up close and personal at fungal spores • Engage with the natural world in a Welsh Language workshop This will be an introductory session suitable for those who don’t know much about the fungal kingdom, but will also be fun for those who are more nerdy about mushrooms too. Whatever your experience you’ll leave looking at fungi in a whole new way, and to start looking for mushrooms on every walk you go on! Who is this for? For young people aged 18-30 interested in spending time outside, love to learn about nature and doing some hands-on nature recovery work! About The Grange: Youngwilder's youth-led rewilding project sits on 31 acres of grassland and woodland, and is part of the wider Grange Project - definitely check them out. Event Details: Date: Saturday 3rd October Time: 10:00am - 16:00pm Location: Grange Farm, Monmouth, NP25 5HW Group Size: Approx. 25 Food Hot drinks, tea, coffee, and plenty of snacks will be provided to keep our brainstorming engines running! Please bring a packed lunch for our outdoor mid-day break. Getting there: Via Train: We will provide lifts from Abergavenny station at 9:30am, returning everyone back to the station by 4:30pm. If you need a lift from the station, please let us know in your order form! It is a 25-minute drive from the train station to the site. Via Car: If you are able to drive to the site, please let us know in the order form as we will be trying to encourage car sharing wherever possible! What3Words Meet Point : ///slumped.backhand.ogre Accessibility The site is accessible along a clay road, that can get slippery when the weather has been wet. The site is hilly, with no paved paths. There are two pigs in the field next to the Youngwilders area and the ground there is bare and very lumpy. The lower sections of the sites can get very wet when the weather has been so. There is access to accessible toilets and decent phone service throughout the site. We can offer travel reimbursement, so if you can send us receipts or proof of travel payment and your bank details, we will reimburse you as soon as possible.
