Food Allergen Awareness Level 2

Learners will gain an Awareness of food allergens and how to spot the signs and symptoms of Anaphylaxis This qualification forms part of the QA Food Safety suite of qualifications. The qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of: • National Occupational Standards (NOS) for food safety developed by People 1st • Recommendations of good practice outlined by the Food Standards Agency This qualification will enable Learners to attain knowledge of major food allergens and food intolerances and the importance of good practice so that safe food is produced and sold. This qualification specification provides information for Centres about the delivery of the Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Food Allergen Awareness (RQF) and includes the unit information, assessment methods and quality assurance arrangements. Objective The objective of the qualification is to develop a Learner’s knowledge of food allergens and food intolerances, the effects these can have on individuals, how to control cross-contamination from allergenic ingredients and how to provide accurate food allergen information. Intended audience This qualification is for people who are working in, or preparing to work in a food handling, food retail or food manufacturing role.
