A walk around Warters with afternoon tea at the Wolds Hertiage Centre. Join your guide from East Yorkshire Geology Project for a walk around the chalk hills and dry valleys aournd the pretty village of Warter on the Yorkshire Wolds. Along the route your guide will cover topics of interest including the history of the Warter Priory Estate, the medieval Priory, the archaeology of the Roman and Iron Age periods and David Hockney who painted one of his celebrated arworks 'Bigger Trees' at Dalton Gate Cottage. This circular walk takes in some fabolous views and varied schenery including the beautiful valley of Great Dug Dale where a bolder site in a foboding position above the valley. Brought to East Yorkshire from Salsbury Plain, the rock marked the spot where the previous owner of the Warter Estate like to have his picnics! Our walk finishes at the Wolds Heritage Centre in Warters St Jeams Church were we have light afternoon tea.
