Junk Magic Characters - The Magical Weekender

Join Henshaws' Lizzie with artist Olivia to create your own 3D magic character inspired by artwork in our new exhibition, The Magic Show! This September, we are running a wide range of exciting creative workshops for all ages! The Magical Weekender coincides with the final weekend of our current Gallery exhibition, The Magic Show. ABOUT THE WORKSHOP Unleash your imaginative and creative powers in our intergenerational junk magic character making workshop. Using recycled materials, art maker Olivia will help, inspire and guide you to work together to upcycle, build and decorate your own magical character - who will of course have legendary magical powers! What character will you create and what magical powers will they have? Will your character be a family mascot? We cannot wait to see! All under 16s must be accompanied by an adult at all time. Caregivers are encouraged to book their own spot and take part in the workshop. Work as a team to create something special! All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Henshaws & Pyramid to provide transport and payment to their facilitators and artists. Ticket prices are on a sliding scale, so please donate as much as you are comfortable with. If you are unable to take part in the workshop, but would like to support the session and provide a subsidised ticket for a young person, there is an option to make a donation on the ticket page. ABOUT THE MAGIC SHOW The Magic Show is a collaborative exhibition between Henshaws Arts and Crafts Centre & Pyramid, building on the success of previous exhibitions with disabled and neurodivergent artists at the Mills. The exhibition is an immersive take-over of the Gallery, with artists from both groups responding to the theme of magic. Opening times: Tuesday-Sunday, 10am-4pm. Closed on Mondays. FREE ENTRY ABOUT SUNNY BANK MILLS Sunny Bank Mills is an inspirational cultural destination in the heart of the local community of Farsley, Leeds. Founded in 1829, these glorious Mills are being regenerated by the sixth generation of the family owners, creating a wonderful blend of work, leisure and culture. BOOKING CONDITIONS Workshop bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. We regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the event date. Please note that Eventbrite’s booking fee is non-refundable. If we need to cancel the event for any reason your ticket will be fully refunded. ACCESS INFORMATION The venue of this workshop is within the Finishing Room, which is accessed up a flight of stairs through the Gallery or via step free access through the Main Yard.
