Practical training for professionals supporting domestic abuse survivors, improving responses, safety planning, and recovery outcomes This 5 hour 30 minute course explores key approaches for effectively supporting people living with or impacted by domestic abuse. Delegates will develop a deeper understanding of the impact of coercive control and trauma, explore how survivors’ "space for action" can be restricted, and identify practical strategies to promote safety, empowerment, and recovery. The session also examines the importance of accurate recording and report writing to ensure survivor’s experiences are effectively understood and represented. In this session, you will: • Explore how coercive control restricts survivors’ space for action • Recognise the impact of domestic abuse and trauma • Identify ways to expand survivors’ opportunities and strengths • Apply trauma-informed approaches to support and empower survivors • Understand survivor-led, non-judgemental practice • Improve safety planning and support strategies • Strengthen report writing and recording skills • Consider the role of language and professional curiosity in safeguarding Please be aware that this session will contain information on different types of domestic abuse.
