No experience needed — just bring your creative vibes and get ready to paint, play, and create. This session isn't about creating a perfect piece of art or striving for a masterpiece (although you'll probably surprise yourself with what you create!). Instead, it's about embracing the creative process, letting go of perfection, and giving yourself permission to play. Through simple doodling exercises, colour and mixed media techniques, you'll discover how creativity can help you unwind, refocus and reconnect with yourself—all in a warm, welcoming and supportive environment. Why Doodling? Doodling is much more than drawing random patterns. It is a creative practice often used within art therapy because of its calming and restorative qualities. When we doodle, we naturally slow down, become more present and allow our minds to settle. The repetitive marks and patterns can help calm the nervous system, reduce feelings of stress and gently ground us in the moment. One of the wonderful things about doodling is its simplicity. It doesn't require expensive materials or artistic experience, making it an accessible creative wellbeing practice that you can continue long after the workshop has finished. This workshop invites you to explore creativity intuitively, without judgement or expectation—simply enjoying the experience of making. What to Expect During this two-hour workshop you'll: • Explore fun and relaxing abstract doodling techniques. • Experiment with colour, shapes, patterns and mixed media. • Learn how to build layers, texture and visual interest. • Explore a variety of creative materials. • Create your own unique abstract artwork to take home. • Enjoy mindful creative time in a calm and supportive setting. I'll guide you through each stage while encouraging you to follow your own intuition and creative style. There are no rules—just plenty of opportunities to experiment and enjoy the process. About Ellie I'm Ellie, a full-time artist based in the East Midlands with a passion for creating original paintings and helping others discover the joy of creativity. Alongside my art practice, I've developed a strong interest in the connection between creativity and wellbeing. After studying Art Therapy, I became fascinated by the simple creative practices that can support our mental health and emotional wellbeing. My Paint. Play. Turn into Burrough Court, take the first left just before the black automatic gates (which will likely be closed on your arrival), follow the lane up to the Paddock Car Park. Once parked up it is a short walk to the Garden, following the signs for the Larder.
