Opening Compton Concert Weekend – Cameron Lloyd and Damon Willetts

Cameron Lloyd & Damon Willetts of the Shropshire Theatre Organ Trust for a special concert on our opening weekend We are pleased to welcome Cameron Lloyd and Damon Willetts of the Shropshire Theatre Organ Trust for a special concert celebrating the music, history and unique character of the theatre organ. Cameron is Chairman of both the Shropshire Theatre Organ Trust and the Cannock Chase Organ Club, as well as a Trustee and lifetime member of the Winter Gardens Trust. An experienced organist and technician, Cameron took over the running of the Cannock Chase Organ Club following the death of his lifelong friend and mentor, Steve Tovey, in 2016. Damon is Treasurer of the Shropshire Theatre Organ Trust and combines his theatre organ activities with a career as a professional groundsman. He was the proud owner of the Compton pipe organ, now installed here at the museum. Following the organ’s return to Grantham, he acquired the Savoy Radford Wurlitzer, which took its place. Both Cameron and Damon share a deep passion for the theatre organ and are actively involved in its preservation, maintenance and promotion. Their experience as performers, technicians and enthusiasts gives them a unique insight into these remarkable instruments. This special concert promises an entertaining programme of music, combining their individual styles and experience while showcasing the versatility and character of Grantham’s historic Compton organ.
