Make an A Line Dress at Abakhan Mostyn

Let's sew with Abakhan! Sew a classic waisted A-line dress using New Look 6393 (View A or C). This versatile design can be made as a lightweight summer dress, a cosy winter outfit, or an elegant evening dress, depending on your choice of fabric. Throughout the class, you'll learn how to achieve a great fit by adjusting the bodice to suit your shape. We'll check and refine the fit across the bust, waist, and body length before constructing the dress. You'll also learn how to insert a neat lapped zip, giving your finished garment a professional look. By the end of the course, you'll have a beautifully fitted dress and the skills to confidently fit and sew similar styles in the future. Skill level: Confident beginner to intermediate. Basic sewing machine skills and the ability to follow a commercial pattern are recommended. Please bring: • Fabric and notions as specified on the pattern envelope( 115cm wide - 2.7m / 150cm wide - 2.1m) • 0.5m of lining. • 14” standard zip. I specialised in Bridal and Aerial wear, so from satin to stretch. I retired in 2020, so I could focus more on my teaching. My classes are designed to pass on the skills I learnt over the years. So my students can progress in their own sewing, from beginners to advanced. I have taught with Abakhan fabrics for over 18 years now and have a passion for teaching dressmaking and sewing. My classes are designed to be fun as well as informative, giving you as much knowledge as I can and helping to further your sewing skills. It’s all about time and practice plus a few handy cheat tips! I love dressmaking and I’m passionate about teaching, so hopefully the 2 combined gives you a great source to draw from, whether it’s making your own trousers to putting in zips.
