Full description from organizer

Week 3: A gentle family woodland session helping children understand worries, find calm and choose what they can control. Worries can sometimes feel like windy thoughts—blowing in, swirling around and trying to take charge. 🍃 But worries are visitors, not bosses. Windy Day Worries is the third session in our six-week Lantern Keepers autumn journey from the Mojo Woodland Wellbeing Club. During this gentle, family-focused session, children and their grown-ups will explore what worry feels like, learn that it is safe to talk about anxious thoughts and practise simple tools for calmer, stormier moments. What will we be exploring? Our main theme for Week 3 is the Green Droplet, which brings together nature, breathing, mindfulness and gentle ways to release worries. We’ll also draw upon the Blue Droplet to remind children that worried feelings are valid and welcome. Rather than trying to make every worry disappear, we’ll help children understand that there are two different pathways: “Can I control it?” If the answer is yes, we can choose one tiny step. If the answer is no, we can help the body feel calmer and safer. This gives children a simple way to separate problems they can act upon from worries that need reassurance, co-regulation or time to pass. Our key message for the session will be: “Worries are visitors—not bosses.” What will we be doing? Families will settle into our woodland basecamp before exploring how the wind can move leaves, grass and branches—just as worried thoughts can sometimes move quickly through our minds. We’ll practise our simple Green Droplet sequence: • Notice what is happening • Breathe slowly • Choose one thing that might help Families will then follow our Windy Worry Release Trail. Children can collect leaves and use them to represent: • A worry they sometimes experience • Something that helps them feel safer or calmer • One tiny step they may be able to take Children will never be pressured to share a private worry aloud. They can draw, ask their grown-up to write, use an imaginary worry or simply take part in the release ritual. We’ll place our worry leaves in a special woodland space, take three gentle Green breaths and walk away together while noticing what we can see, hear and feel around us. Create your own Woodland Worry Doll Each child will create a simple Woodland Worry Doll to take home. Using a small woodland stick, colourful wool and a little leaf cape or scarf, children will make a friendly companion that can “hold” a worry while they practise their calming tools. At home, they can use their doll to follow three simple steps: • Tell it the worry • Take three slow breaths • Choose one thing that might help The worry doll isn’t there to fix everything. It provides a safe, playful way for children to express what is happening and begin moving from overwhelm towards calm. There will also be refreshments and food together around the fire, child-led woodland exploration and relaxed time for families to connect. A session for children and grown-ups together This is not a children-only activity. Our woodland sessions are designed for children and their parents or carers to experience together. Grown-ups will learn how to acknowledge a worry without accidentally making it feel bigger, alongside simple language they can use at home: “That sounds like a worried thought.” “Can we do anything about it right now?” “If we can, what is one tiny step?” “If we can’t, what would help your body feel safe?” The aim isn’t to tell children not to worry. It’s to help them feel heard while gradually building confidence in their ability to cope with uncertainty. Your home micro-mission After the session, families will be invited to try the Control Circle once during the week: “Can I control this?” If yes: choose one tiny step. If no: choose one way to calm and support the body.
