KalaSudha brings A Hundred Strings to St Saviour's, Pimlico, on Sunday 22 November. Adnan Khan plays sitar in the gayaki ang, shaping instrumental phrases after the singing voice. Vinay Desai, a disciple of Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, plays the hundred-stringed santoor of Kashmir. Ustad Akram Khan of the Ajrada gharana plays tabla with both. The sitar bends and slides between notes; the santoor rings through strokes from two wooden mallets. The musicians develop ragas through melody, improvisation and rhythmic exchange. Doors open at 4:45 PM. Music runs from 5:00 to 7:30 PM GMT. Book through the KalaSudha event page. For access needs, contact KalaSudha before the concert.
