Avery Curran & Sara Hinkley in conversation with Julia Armfield

Join us for a night of gothic lit horror with two of this year's hottest debut authors in conversation with the one & only Julia Armfield. We are excited to welcome two of 2026's most exciting debut novelists, Avery Curran and Sara Hinkley, to discuss their gothic literary horror novels with one of London's pre-eminent writers, Julia Armfield. Avery Curran is the author of Spoiled Milk, a lesbian gothic horror novel set in the 1920s. She holds a PhD on spiritualism and queerness in the nineteenth century, with research spanning séance practices and queer relationships that outlasted death. Sara Hinkley is a costume designer and author living in Brooklyn, NY. The Red Sacrament, her debut novel, is a brutal and hypnotic dive into the lives and deaths of a theatre troupe of vampires in Paris 1869, a city on the brink of siege, revolution and massacre. Julia Armfield is the author of the short story collection Salt Slow and the novels Our Wives Under the Sea and Private Rites. She won the White Review Short Story Prize and the Polari Prize, and Private Rites was shortlisted for the Arthur C. Clarke Award. Her next novel, Up to the Light, will be released in 2027.
