Black Introvert Week UK 2026

Wellbeing at Work: An evening of grounded conversation for Black introverts navigating work, boundaries, and authentic leadership. Why this matters Last year, we amplified Black introvert voices. This year, we're asking: what does it take to keep those voices well, steady, and able to lead over time? Wellbeing at work isn't a reward you earn after the work is done. For many Black introverts, it's a strategic tool – one that shapes the quality of your decisions, the strength of your boundaries, and your ability to stay grounded under pressure. Too many Black introverts carry high emotional load in environments that reward speed, display, and constant availability. There's little room for honest reflection, quiet pacing, or the kind of self-care that actually sustains you. This event changes that. Black Introvert Week's flagship event returns with a space where you can slow down, explore what wellbeing actually looks like in your working life, and discover how protecting your energy is part of leading with integrity. Our Speakers Chaired by The Introvert Space's Richard Etienne, the panel will be: Mike Thakoordin (The Wellbeing Engineer). Specialising in equity, mental health, organisational systems, and psychological safety. Mahlena-Rae Johnson. Focusing on identity, confidence, authenticity, and sustainable leadership. Tambo Silavwe. Deep dive into communication, influence, and the future of work in the age of AI. Ayo Greaves. Celebrated Occupational Therapist with years of experience and insight. The Conversation Rather than overlapping, the discussion naturally progresses through five increasingly strategic questions: • Who am I at work? (Understanding yourself as your first leadership asset) • Why do some workplaces make it difficult to stay well? (The systems and cultures that drain energy) • How do I protect my energy without shrinking myself? (Boundaries, recovery, and capacity) • How do I communicate authentically in today's workplace? (Presence without performance) • What does healthier leadership actually look like? (Quiet strength, clear decisions, sustained impact) The atmosphere is thoughtful, inclusive, and conversational – all designed to energise without overwhelming. You'll meet quiet leaders, wellbeing professionals, recent graduates, and community members who all understand what it means to navigate workplace culture while protecting your peace. Who this is for and what you'll get This is for Black introverts navigating workplace visibility, progression, and the weight of code-switching. Whether you're looking for practical strategies to protect your energy, language for setting boundaries, or communities that genuinely understand – you'll leave with clarity, tools, and real connections.
