Coach Trip: EWT Abberton Reservoir

Join us as the winter season gets under way for a trip to Abberton Reservoir in Essex, one of Europe's most important wetlands for wildfowl. On this trip we will scan Abberton's open water and causeways as winter wildfowl gather in their thousands. Among them are Goldeneye and Goosander, with luck joined by an early Smew. Out on the water, wintering grebes and divers reward a patient eye. A trip for everyone, whether you are an experienced birdwatcher or a beginner. Newcomers are very welcome. You can walk round the reserve with our two expert volunteer guides or explore on your own, as you prefer. More information is available on the EWT Abberton Reservoir website, and on this reserve's eBird hotspot. Entry Fee (not included in Eventbrite ticket) A donation of £2 per adult is requested. We will collect this on the coach before arrival. If you are an Essex Wildlife Trust member you don't need to make a donation - please bring your membership card. Facilities • Visitor centre: toilets, café, shop • Bird hides Travel Information • Coaches depart from Stop 40B, Victoria Embankment, 08:00 sharp • Arrive by 07:50 to board and stow your gear • Nearest Tube: Embankment • Outbound journey includes a 20-min stop at services where you can use toilet facilities and buy food and drink; no stop on return; the coach has a WC • Depart reserve at 16:00 What to Bring • Clothes for all weathers • Binoculars (and scope if you have one) • Packed lunch if you wish to join the trip leaders for lunch in one of the hides (only food bought at the café can be consumed there) • Cash for £2 minimum donation before entry to reserve OR your Essex Wildlife Trust membership card if you are a member
