DARK ENERGY

Dark Energy continues to promote "Sound Art for Sound Systems," maintaining Bass in its rightful position as a significant component of cerebral expression. For the fifth edition, resident artist Gary Stewart aka Bantu will be demonstrating the latest developments of his electro-Nyabinghi project, comprised of robust percussion loops, Strega noise motifs and archival spoken word and chants. Guest RENU (Renu Hossain), renowned percussionist, composer and producer will be showcasing a small passage from her new work, “BREAKING 4/4,” performing with a minimal set up of modular synthesis and live percussion. Dushume aka Dr Amit Patel has been invited to unleash his notoriously dense bass cloud, neither drone nor pulse, increasing the atmospheric pressure of any space it occupies by an estimated 10x normal Earth gravity! Co-curator Aniruddha Das will be presenting the sister project of Dhangsha, DSPSSSSD (“dispossessed”), juxtaposing deep bass pulsations with non-metric noise and aggressive granular synthesis. Proceeds from this event go directly to supporting families in Gaza. Tickets are £9 advance + booking fee from Billetto or £12 on the door. Spanners, Arch 504, Ridgeway Road, London SW9 7EX .
