FOUR FATHERS brings together four writers and four perspectives on fathers, sons, identity and inheritance. Presented by Monolithic Theatre at Ladbroke Hall for Black History Month UK, this interdisciplinary evening combines theatre, poetry and photography to explore what we inherit from our fathers, what their presence or absence leaves behind, and how relationships change when sons become fathers themselves. Isaiah Weekes, Monolithic Theatre’s resident writer, responds to the work and legacy of James Baldwin, exploring Black fatherhood, masculinity and inheritance. British Pakistani writer and poet Haroon Khan examines fatherhood from both sides of the relationship, reflecting on family, culture, love and separation. Award-winning Nigerian British writer Yomi Sode journeys from Black boyhood into fatherhood, exploring masculinity, intimacy, vulnerability and the fears that emerge when another life becomes your responsibility. Completing the four is Roger Robinson, winner of the T. S. Eliot Prize for A Portable Paradise. Alongside the performances, acclaimed photographer Eddie Otchere curates an exhibition exploring fatherhood through photography, archive and personal testimony. At its centre, FATHER presents a photographic body of work with first-person text, offering another perspective on the relationship between father and child. Together, theatre, poetry and photography transform personal stories into a wider conversation about fathers, sons, memory and inheritance.
