rhythmfictions

Join Arman Nouri in this sound and writing workshop and create a song or text about the local area around the Drawing Room gallery. rhythmfictions thinks through and with land – in this case, urban space – as a prism to engage with broader concerns around identity and power, paying particular attention to the role of myth and fiction in organising the city. Guided by an ensemble of solo and collective practices—including reading, writing, listening, drawing and percussion—participants will form their own creative expression about the city and their place in it. The afternoon will be set out in 3 spacious segments: • Settling in with tea and a chance to read and share some key texts, including some from the Drawing Room’s library • Grounding exercises: breathing, listening, moving together • Group walks, to different rhythms, followed by writing, drawing and sharing The session is aimed at adults but open to anyone interested in listening, walking, drawing, urban spaces and stories. It is free to attend, but donations are welcome. About the artist Arman Nouri is an artist, writer and curator.
