Spilt Milk: Artist Talk & Exhibition Walkthrough with Ellis King

Join contemporary figurative artist Ellis King at SQFT: Space Gallery, Marylebone, during Frieze Week for an informal walkthrough and conversation around Spilt Milk, her debut London solo exhibition. The exhibition explores the experiences women are often expected to minimise, move on from or brush aside. Through a series of self-portraits, King examines shame, failure, anger and vulnerability, considering the uncomfortable moments that don't fit neatly into the stories we tell about ourselves. During this informal artist talk, Ellis will share the ideas and personal experiences behind the paintings, discuss how the series developed, and reflect on the unexpected discoveries that emerge through making work. There will be time for questions and conversation, followed by an opportunity to spend time with the paintings at your own pace. With drinks provided by Flint Vineyard and Pretty Decent Beer Co, this is an opportunity to experience the exhibition in person and engage with the ideas behind it in a relaxed, welcoming setting. No prior knowledge of contemporary art is needed — just curiosity.
