Talking Exams: For parents/carers at Simon Balle School (889)

All young people will face assessment at school! Come and learn how to support your young person as they prepare for and sit exams & tests How soon should my child start revising? Why won’t they just get on with it? How can I help them stay calm? What if the results don’t go well? These are some of the most common concerns parents face during an exam year. For many families, revision can feel like a rollercoaster — with last-minute panic, procrastination, or overwhelming stress creating tension at home. In fact, in any year your child faces tests and exams, there will be similar questions and experiences. This practical workshop, run by experienced facilitators, counsellors, and parenting practitioners, will help you support your young person through this challenging time. You’ll learn: • When and how to begin effective revision • How to encourage your child without conflict or nagging • The science of stress & performance — and how the right level of stress can help • Strategies to manage stress before, during, and between exams • Coping tools your child can use in the exam hall • How to support with results — whatever the outcome The Supporting Links ethos is about giving parents practical knowledge and strategies to support their children now while building lifelong stress-management & performance skills. You will be able to ask questions throughout the session. Even if your child is not facing GCSEs or A-Levels this year, the sooner you can help them to develop these important skills, the easier they will find those high pressure times.
