The Long Play Sessions: Steve Mason: In Conversation and Book Signing

Scottish singer-songwriter and Beta Band founder Steve Mason joins The Long Play Sessions to discuss his long-awaited memoir, Failure Is Always an Option - a candid, hilarious and deeply personal account of one of British music's most fascinating and uncompromising careers. From the Beta Band's genre-defying rise in the late 1990s to sold-out tours with Radiohead, critical acclaim and spectacular self-sabotage, Steve reflects on the highs, lows and chaos of a life lived entirely on his own terms. Blending sharp wit with remarkable honesty, he explores youth culture, creativity, addiction, failure, success and redemption, setting the record straight—or, as he puts it, "straight-ish." Celebrated by contemporaries including Oasis, Primal Scream, The Chemical Brothers, The Verve and Radiohead, the Beta Band became one of Britain's most influential cult bands, renowned for their fearless experimentation and unforgettable live performances. Following their acclaimed reunion and sold-out return to the stage, Steve now looks back on the extraordinary story behind the music in what promises to be an unforgettable evening. The event includes an in-depth conversation with Steve, an audience Q&A, and a book signing, with copies of Failure Is Always an Option available to purchase on the night. Whether you're a lifelong Beta Band fan or simply love great stories from the world of music, this is a rare opportunity to hear from one of Britain's most original and enigmatic artists.
