Voices in Motion

What if poetry could be seen as well as heard? Voices in Motion brings contemporary Italian poetry into the streets of London, transforming a digital billboard into a temporary poetic gallery. Artist Giovanna Iorio turns poets’ voices into Voice Portraits — visual spectrograms created from recordings of poets reading their own work. Sound becomes image; rhythm, breath and voice become visible. This Chiswick edition is dedicated to the memory of poet Nino Pedretti, and features the voices of contemporary Italian poets and artists: We pay tribute to Nino Pedretti (Giovanni Maria Pedretti, Santarcangelo di Romagna, 13 August 1923 – Rimini, 30 May 1981), an Italian poet and translator of great talent, whose intense and distinctive voice holds an important place in twentieth-century Italian literature.
