Join the Critique of Pure Reading for our next session, where we turn to one of philosophy’s oldest and strangest dinner parties: Plato’s Symposium. A group of Athenians get drunk and take turns giving their accounts of what exactly love is, and somehow end up with one of the most influential texts in Western philosophy. Come ready to talk about desire, beauty, friendship, and whether any of this 2,400 year old wisdom still holds up over a glass of wine of your own. Tickets cost £5 and are redeemable against any drink at Downstairs at Dillons. Ticket-holders will also be entitled to a 10% discount on the following month's book club pick - and any books that they wish to buy that evening - if they purchase it from Waterstones Gower Street. We will hold a vote for the following book club pick on the night. Book early to avoid disappointment, spaces are limited!
