Open Mouth Open Mic: a monthly night by PoorPennyCo & BlytheLydonPoetry, bringing creatives together to share, network & promote Open Mouth Open Mic Open Mouth Open Mic is a new monthly creative night brought to you by Poor Penny Co and Blythe Lydon Poetry, created to bring creatives together, give unafraid voices a platform, and create a space where talent can be seen, heard and celebrated. We welcome all performers and creatives: singers, poets, comedians, actors, cabaret artists, musicians, storytellers, spoken-word artists and anyone with something original to share. You don’t have to fit into a category, have a following or be a seasoned performer. If you’ve got something to say, sing, perform or create, we want to hear it. How It Works Each month, we reserve 2–5 performance slots for pre-booked artists. For everyone else who wants to perform, we’ll collect names on the night and put them in the hat. Names will be drawn throughout the evening, giving those who haven’t pre-booked a fair chance to grab the mic and step into the spotlight. Every performer gets a 10-minute slot to showcase their work. Keep It Original We ask that every performance is a product of the artist. This is your opportunity to showcase your own creativity, voice and ideas. There is one important stage rule: no phones on stage. Know your lines, lyrics or material, or bring it written down on paper. We want the performance to be about you, your work and your connection with the audience, rather than reading from a screen. It’s a chance to meet other creatives, promote your work, discover new talent, exchange ideas and build connections. You never know who you’ll meet, what collaboration might come from it, or where one conversation could lead. Whether you’re stepping onto a stage for the first time, testing out new material, promoting your work or simply coming along to support your fellow creatives, there’s a place for you here.
