STEVEN BERKOFF in conversation with Kieron Pim - Gower St

Raw, rebellious and utterly unfiltered, Shouting at Night is the electrifying memoir of one of Britain’s most uncompromising artists. Raw, rebellious and utterly unfiltered, Shouting at Night is the electrifying memoir of one of Britain’s most uncompromising artists. From a troubled youth to international acclaim, Steven Berkoff traces the making of the actor, writer and director who forged his own radical language of performance—and became one of cinema’s most unforgettable villains. With trademark candour, wit and bite, he takes us behind the scenes of an extraordinary career, from the National Theatre and the anarchic Fringe to the dazzling, unpredictable world of film.Along the way come vivid encounters with legends including Stanley Kubrick, Joe Papp, Johnny Depp, Joan Collins and Christopher Walken, as Berkoff recalls the collaborations, clashes, triumphs and chaos that shaped his life in the theatre and on screen.A fearless portrait of an artist who refused to play by the rules. Shouting at Night is Berkoff in his own words: provocative, hilarious, revealing, and alive with the spirit of performance.
