The Glory of Gamay: Beaujolais and Beyond

Hosted wine tasting. Expand below for full details. It is Beaujolais Nouveau night and time for fun, frivolity and good cheer. We have always been lovers of Beaujolais, the proverbial third river of Lyon, that flows through the town's iconic bistros. Purple, bright and juicy, no wine is better suited to classic French country cooking and far from being defined by brashly commercial Nouveau, the wines of Beaujolais are enjoying a complete renaissance in the hands of a cohort of young, questing growers. Tonight we will be opening some of our favourites from the crus of Fleurie and Julienas as well as their less well known cousins in Chenas and St Amour and we might even throw in some juicy reds from further afield that Beaujolais lovers won't want to miss. Join us for an evening of mouth-watering, gourmand reds! Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
