The Wind Blows - a creative workshop inspired by nature

Enjoy a morning of hands-on woodland activities, games, stories, making and exploring – with perhaps a few surprises along the way. Welcome to Friends of Big Wood KIDS: 'The Wind Blows' a creative nature workshop for children aged 7-12 years who enjoy being outdoors, getting curious and discovering things for themselves. Outdoor drop off session in Big Wood Local Nature Reserve, entrance at top of Temple Fortune Hill (nearest postcode NW11 7XR - note the drop pin on map is approximate). Join naturalist & author Michael Holland & a local nature storyteller for a morning of outdoor exploration, creativity, games and storytelling as we explore the many ways that plants, animals & people journey through the natural world. How do birds, bees & bats stay in the air? How can a seed glide, spin or sail on the wind? And what makes something fly in the first place? We'll discover some of the science and simple rules of aerodynamics behind flight in nature, make our own kites & paper planes, experiment with gliding & flying, and listen for the sounds of the wind and woodland. Expect plenty of hands-on exploration, creativity, curiosity & a few surprises along the way! We kindly ask for a minimum £12 donation per child to go towards our session leader costs and materials. We need your financial contributions to keep our professional leaders in bread and butter. Your gratefully received support will help keep these sessions sustainable.
