Store Tour at Gawthorpe Textiles Collection

Join us for a curator behind the scenes tour of our collection stores in a converted 19th century textile mill. This tour will take you behind the scenes of our Collection with an opportunity to see how we store and care for our amazing textiles, which are stored in custom built storage in a converted 19th century textile mill. As we move round the stores you'll get to see some of the items from the Collection and on this tour you will also get a sneak peek at items we are working on as part of the new exhibition for our textile galleries at nearby Gawthorpe Hall. The tour will be led by the collection's Curator, Rachel Midgley and each tour will last around 50 minutes with opportunities to ask questions afterwards. On the Day Please arrive up to 15 minutes before the tour starts and allow a few minutes to enter the building. One of our team will greet you at the building reception, which is located at the top corner of our car park. To help you locate our reception please either look up the Gawthorpe Textiles Collection map pin/marker on Google Maps, or use What3Words ///robots.roses.maybe The Venue Northlight is a former textile mill built in 1832 and a local landmark in Brierfield. There is limited free car parking available on site and Brierfield train station is just across the road from us. The entrance is pictured below, don't be put off by the shutters, head towards the reception and you will see a door to your left. If you are arriving by train you can access through the gate to the right of the picture below, please email in advance for the code. Accessibility The venue and our stores have step free access, wide doorways and accessible toilets. There is a moderate slope to parts of the car park but marked accessible parking spaces are available.
